We are delighted to support this excellent and much needed community resource by providing storage space and the necessary facilities for them to open a collection point here twice weekly.
Led by Ruby Abram, this volunteer run group depends on grant aid and the support of the public to obtain a steady supply of ambient food.
They receive many referrals each week from health practitioners, social workers, half way houses ... and more.
Individuals who find themselves struggling to afford food can also reach out to Ruby - up to twice a month.
We are also pleased to support another valuable initiative here at The Hub.
Penwortham & Larches Care & Share is spearheaded by volunteer Lindsay who is ably supported stalwarts John and Pat. They rely entirely on donations of good quality clothes and toys from the public.
Lindsay receives numerous referrals per week and so, for example, is able to provide emergency clothing and some small household items for people who suddenly find themselves with a property to live in but little else.
In addition to providing toys to those in need at Christmas, the team is now able to ensure that children have at least one toy to enjoy on their birthday.
A selection of clothes and toys are made available to the public each week here at The Hub.
You are welcome to drop off items on a Wednesday or Friday between 12.30 and 1.30pm.
